Description: Was a wicked party, just behind Darling Harbour the venue was great. Couldn't hear much from outside. A series of mazey hallways lead to the underground carpark. Heaps of people and DJ Edge going off. Promoter: Hard to believe that it's close to the 30th anniversary of Freedom 2...good time for another thanks, credit to the Bliss / Bulbe / Punos(KISS, remember?) crews, Dave C., Meyer, and others for making everything come together smoothly, and look and sound great! The local DJ's all did a super top job getting into the spirit of the night (as always), and DJ Edge/Gordon Matthewman was amazing...back then there were no demos or youtube so we weren't sure exactly what we'd get on the night (trumpet you say, cool idea let's do it), and so we were all experiencing it for the first time. I recall Edge hung around in Sydney for a while afterwards and was in no hurry to leave. Cool guy, he must have left eventually since he was kind enough to show me around some clubs in London early the following year, and to visit the late Colin Faver at Kiss FM. There were close to 2000 people at the party from memory (hard to say exactly since the guest list was a pretty fluid concept, and loads of people were in the chillout and spread all around the space and outside), but the intimacy of this photo 📷 reminds me how we, on purpose, never put the DJ on a stage or podium... It would have been hard there anyway because of the low roof of the car park, but the idea was DJ and crowd as one on the same level, people reaching over touching the turntables (pitched up to +12 or 16) and all, I'm sure it made everyone give that little bit extra...and those lasers were RIGHT THERE! Same homemade spirit as the first pub parties, earlier that same year, but on a much bigger scale. I have one or two more pics somewhere, but the video footage shot by Paul aka Dougie is lost in the mists of time unfortunately...
